Born 1975 in Southampton Gavin grew up drawing. While attaining a degree in Graphic Design he also began painting and hasn't stopped since. He now lives in Carshalton, Surrey.
Despite his often detailed art Gavin tends to paint quickly and prefers to use acrylic paint for this reason. The paint is applied in thin layers building up tones and complexity throughout the painting process.
The subjects he paints are varied and a result of curiosity in our perception of the world and a joyful wonder at the effects of light. He has however had some eyesight problems. He says about capturing detail and texture “..is like preserving vision and making the most of what I've seen...”
Viewers of his art have often commented on its sensitivity and depth.
Gavin has exhibited in the UK, America and France and at a variety of large and small venues including the Mall Galleries of London. He received an Artist Of the Year award 2016 from the Society Of All Artists.
